I am a Professor of the Economics of Well-being at the University of Groningen and an Editor of the Journal of Population Economics. 

My current projects are about the implications of technology for workers' tasks and well-being. 

In the past, I used to study the historical and contemporary determinants of socio-economic developments in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.
